BIOGRAPHY
At age twenty-one, Michael Bihovsky has established himself in nearly all aspects of the modern musical theatre genre, achieving recognition in his roles as performer, director, and composer alike.
Michael grew up in Suburban Philadelphia, and began performing at the age of eleven. Since then, he has graced the stage portraying such roles as Billy Lawlor in 42nd Street, Uncle Ernie in The Who’s Tommy, Buddy Holly in the rock n’ roll revue Leaders of the Pack, Bandmaster Wallace Hartley in Maurie Yeston’s Titanic, and many others. Michael has also participated in numerous showcase productions, including performances as the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic The Phantom of the Opera, Radames in Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, and both Mark and Roger in various showcases of Jonathan Larson’s RENT. Most recently, Michael also portrayed the role of Jon in a local production of Larson’s autobiographical rock musical Tick, Tick…Boom!, which was also directed, musically directed, and produced by Michael.
Michael entered into the world of musical composition three years ago, when he began to compose contemporary music for the modern stage. He is currently providing the music, lyrics, and book for three new musicals. Michael has just released his first album, Dare to Dream, which features several of his own compositions, as well as interpretations of other admired works. Besides theatrical compositions, Michael has written a series of pop-rock singles, including the new rock-ballad “The Candle.”
Michael has also directed and starred in a series of benefit concerts for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a Philadelphia-based charity dedicated to helping cure childhood cancer, as well as the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children.
Michael has both received and provided training at French Woods Festival for the Performing Arts, and the Julian Krinsky Drama Program at Haverford College. He is currently a senior at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, concentrating in Musical Theatre Performance and Composition. Michael is proud to have taken guidance and mentoring from some of modern Broadway’s most prominent musicians and performers, including Adam Pascal, Susan Egan, Anthony Rapp, and Jason Robert Brown. Michael currently studies vocal performance with Lisa Willson DeNolfo.
