I first saw the Phantom of the Opera performed on Broadway by Howard McGillin. I've always preferred musicals with plots that would work even without the music -- and the Phantom of the Opera is the positive epitome of this ideology. With Andrew Lloyd Webber's presentation of this beautiful tale of an isolated individual, I developed a strong passion for all of the "Music of the Night." I first performed this role in 2003, and have made various appearances since performing selections from this beautiful artwork. Playing the Phantom was a definite landmark in my acting career, as it forced me to extricate parts of myself that would normally never be shown in public light, and display them in front of hundreds of people. But it was also a lot of fun -- how many people get the chance to stand on a balcony over hundreds of people, complete with mask, cape, and evil laugh? I will always look back fondly on the opportunity!
